WEDNESDAY, JULY 2-6 | BOSTON HARBORFEST!
This annual city festival includes more than 220 scheduled events all week long! From walking tours to concerts, the famous Chowdafest and Harbor cruises there is hardly a shortage of fun! THURSDAY, JULY 3 | MALDEN LIBRARY MOVIE NIGHT!
If you have not seen the fan favorite Frozen yet, OR want to see it for the 20th time, visit Malden Public Library Children’s room for a FREE showing of this popular film. FRIDAY, JULY 4 | HAPPY INDEPENDENCE DAY!
Events are happening all over! If you are around the area during the day with nothing to do, head over to Burlington to enjoy a day full of events! Children’s activities on the Town Common being at 8AM including potato sack races, pie eating contests, hula hoop contests and more! The annual 4th of July parade starts at 11AM and runs from the Burlington Car Wash to Memorial School. Marching bands, floats, Batman, Patriots cheerleaders and Spongebob will be making an appearance, but the parade’s most special guest is Dougie Davis riding shotgun on Tower 1 of the Burlington Fire Department. Dougie is a 5 year old who was diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumor last year. Throughout the day, the American Legion will be collecting donations for “Team Dougie”.
THURSDAY, JULY 10 | CONCERT ON THE COMMON!
Stoneham Chamber of Commerce ‘Concerts on the Common‘ summer series is back! This night features Jumpin’ Juba & Preacher Jack. The two play an arrangement of piano-guitar blues mixed with contemporary lyrics which makes for a fresh sound for listening or dancing. Great environment suitable for families and friends alike!
FRIDAY, JULY 11 | HIGHLAND FOUNDATION FREE FUN FRIDAYS!
The Highland Foundation’s Free Fridays initiative is a great way to sneak that extra bit of information into those brains before they kick into ‘summer mode’. This program allows families to go to the local museums FREE of charge in a way to promote lifelong learning. On the 11th, the popular Peabody Essex Museum in Salem is the venue chosen. It is recommended to call ahead to ensure your spot for this free event!
SATURDAY, JULY 12 | STONE ZOO BOTTLE AND CAN DRIVE!
Help the environment by bringing your bottles and cans to Stone Zoo from 10AM-2:30PM in the parking lot. Not only are you doing your part by recycling, proceeds from this fundraiser helps to benefit conservation efforts supported by Zoo New England. This is held the second Saturday of each month from April to October.
SUNDAY, JULY 13 | JAZZ BRUNCH!
Love Jazz music? Love brunch? Head to Bestseller’s Cafe in Medford Square from 11:30AM-1:30PM for a FREE Jazz Brunch with the easy listening sounds of Roberto Mighty & Kathryn Howell. Head to the Malden Public Library at 2PM for a demonstration by the Museum of Science! This event will reveal the scientific secrets behind magic tricks, while teaching kids how to execute the coolest ones! Join lululemon athletica on The Green at Lynnfield MarketStreet at 6:30PM for this fun FREE zumba class! This fast-paced dance workout is good for all ages and skill levels!

Also starting July 18th and continuing until the 20th is the 11th Annual Revere beach NATIONAL SAND SCULPTING FESTIVAL! A greatly anticipated summer event, attendees travel from all over to witness the master sand sculptors go to work! The weekend-long celebration also includes food trucks, live entertainment, exhibit booths, children’s sand sculpting lessons and a fireworks extravagant! Don’t miss out!
SUNDAY, JULY 20 | TONNESON & CO. LAKE Q 5K!
The 2nd annual Tonneson & Co. 5K takes place around the beautiful Lake Quannapowitt in Wakefield. This is a great event for runners of all ages & skill levels, walkers, and strollers are welcome! Proceeds from the event will go to the Wakefield Interfaith Food Pantry to benefit their Kids First Program which provides food to families with school age children during the summer months. Since many of these families receive free or reduced price breakfast and lunch during the school year, this helps ease this financial burden during the children’s vacation months. Come to the Square One Mall in Saugus from 10AM-1PM for it’s first ever Touch a Truck event! A variety of trucks and cars from local businesses and state and town agencies will be doing interactive demonstrations and other fun activities. Truck enthusiasts of ALL ages are welcome! This event is sponsored by Sullivan Tire who will be there giving away 250 coupons good for $25 off any auto service through them.
